I've been looking for good bbq since I've moved from Ga 7 yrs ago. I've tried smokey bones bbq and some others in the area, that were so unremarkable that I don't remember the names. This place is really good, I'm quite picky, so usually when I say something tastes good, no one I know disagrees with me. Now the price tag is a little steep, but as a splurge, especially since you shouldn't eat food like this everday I say go for it. Tip* park on the left side of the building(if your outside looking at the door) to avoid walking through the smoke. When you get inside you can instantly tell this is a family run business. This food is delicious I had mac and cheese was good, but I loved the potatoe salad its definitely southern style with eggs and a bit of mustard. I got the grilled wings because they ran out of the fried ones(in glad they did) and the RIBS!!! Delightful, juicy, smokie just delicious. Definitely coming back

Review from January 2014. Good barbecue, although the sauces were too sweet to my taste. We had both the chicken (3/5) and the ribs (4/5), and the ribs came out well ahead. I didn't feel there was enough "pull" to the meat on the ribs, but they had good flavor. The sides were okay and they have all the usual suspects: Cole slaw, beans, potato salad and collard greens. The service was excellent--very personable as well as on top of things for our take out.

Now listen you may have to wait especially if you come after 6pm on a Friday or Saturday but there is a note on the wall that forewarns you that sometimes they are slow but the food is worth it--I agree 100%. There is a pit outside with a pit master handling his business. When you see the smoke wafing over the street you know you are in the right place. Parking is tricky yes...it is a small wooden building off of Sunrise just before MLK/Swap Shop--use your good driving skills and make it work! The first time I went we ordered a family meal with ribs and chicken along with some collard greens and mac/cheese. The ribs are HUGE. The collards are so good that sometimes they run out (the next time I went there were no more). The sauce on the ribs is unusual because it has some mustard in it but the flavor is really special. I like the spicy sauce particularly. Up front the display case has some yummy sweets including red velvet and lemon pound cakes. Love the lemon pound! Now there are several b-que joints around me but I only go to Father & Sons. Give it a try--I think you will find some good stuff in there.

Everything about this place is awesome! The staff (i believe he was the owner) was so welcoming. Small place with whole lotta soul! We happened to walk in when several out of towners (and first timers as well) were ordering. We all just ate in silence and kept nodding at one another while we devoured our ribs and chicken. The mac and cheese is by far the best i've had in broward. This my new favorite place.

You get a lot of bang for your buck here!! I had a half rack of ribs (split full rack with a buddy).... I still couldn't finish it..delicious!..took the rest home....the baked beans and cole slaw were delicious as well!!

Yes! Good BBQ in Fort Lauderdale close to the Swap Shop. My friend girl and I went here one Friday night before a movie at the swap shop. When we arrived, we were told that it would take 45 min for the chicken to become available. We didn't have time to wait b/c our movie was starting within 30 of the 45 min wait; they big guy outside assured us we would not have to wait long. But we ended up waiting for 50 min. It was worth the wait for sure. The Mac n cheese was cheesy, buttery & tasty; the collard greens were perfection. I like the sauce used here and there was a choice between spicy and regular. Overall the people there and staff made the waiting experience a little less painful. I would go back for more chicken!

I went to this place based on the reviews here and I have to say that I was disappointed. I got the ribs and chicken combo and there was more bones than there was meat. I specifically asked for drums and got none. The ribs were so over cooked that the bones were falling apart whenever I would try to take a bite. The chicken was burnt and there was suppose to be cornbread and all I got was a slice of wonder bread. For what they charged and the reviews here I expected a lot more. I would not recommend this place.

Excellent Ribs, HUGE portion. About three more ribs than most spots. Not cheap but a good value. I like that they also leave the tips on, even more meat. Not as smokey (not as deep of a smoke color in the rib) as Jenkins or Holdem BBQ however super juicy and tasty as hell. I actually preferred them without the sauce, which is a mustardish BBQ sauce. Sides were big and hit the spot. I'll be back. I'm a 285lb white boy and both me and my buddy had enough leftover for a 2nd meal.

This place is a hidden gem. Hands down the best bbq in broward County. Their Mac and cheese is also amazing. It makes me say tomjenkinswho?

  • Alan L.

The mild sauce was awesome. The meat fell off the chicken bones and was moist and tender. The ribs were as good as the chicken. I tried the cornbread, peas and rice, and collard greens. Hard to say which was the best they were also good. Service was excellent. Parking is a little tricky you got to have patience.

Went there on Friday limited parking.. They had no menus for you to look at. But only 2 that's was tape down by the cashier so that made a big line because you do not know what to order. Order a family meal which came with two sides do not like beans, greens so I ask for two sides of Mac and cheese which I was told it will cost $1 because its double sides which I do not understand it clearly says in the menu two sides with a meal. Long wait for food and it was only 5pm I was there for for a whole 1hr waiting for my ribs. The food was OK They need more menus and be clear about order double sides. Which I feel that's not far I have to pay additional for that.

Wow what amazing BBQ. I live in Miami but a few family members of mine told me to stop by. Boy was I in for a treat. I came early in the day. The woman behind the counter greater me right away, with a beautiful smile & amazing southern hospitality. She helped me choose my items. She told me she doesn't eat meat & I almost cried for her. How can you work with all this amazing meat & not eat it. Bless her heart. The ribs OUTSTANDING, Mac& Cheese phenomenal, collards, Delicious, corn bread yummy, beans, great, key lime cake AWSOME. Everything I had was perfect. The portions are really great for the price. I will be back here all the time . Thank you guys for staying true & delivering Stellar food.

I used to go to this place many years ago when it was ran by a family who still owns the building and it was good then too. Today it's ran by different people and I really enjoyed the meal I had which was the rib dinner with home made macaroni and cheese and greens, I ordered it with the hot BBQ sauce and it had a nice kick to it. The ribs were perfectly done with the rib tips still attached to them I usually like when when they cut them off and served them on the side. I was told if you like it that way you need to ask them to do that. If you are BBQ fan this is a must try place if your not a BBQ fan you have some issues LOL I plan on going back taking my family with me this time.

The food is good But the people that work there are rude Yesterday I called too do a pick up order And they pick up we not taken take out order And they just Hang up I didn't have time too talk at all Which was very rude I work in the restaurant business I never in my life talk too any customer like that And then I went there too make an order First it took them Almost 10 minutes to give me a side of bbq sauce Which they charger 50 cent for Which I never got And when I order my food I said not spicy Which they gave me spicy Once I got home that's when I know My ribs were spicy So I throw it away and just ate the sides Which the meal cost me 14.00 bucks plus tax Which I throw the ribs in the garbage I waste my money at the wrong please. After I see there were spicy I called too tell them That no one answer. Which I'm not surprised. Would I come back Hmm,I highly doubt it

The food here is awesome! First of all I have to say how nice it is to have good bbq that isn't only open on the weekends. The slab of ribs is so much meat! The sauce is tasty, and the meat is tender. I also recommend one of their desert selections, I had the red velvet cupcake.

  • Rich J.

I love everything about this place...the hole in the wall feel, yet it's kept very clean...I travel a great deal around the country trying every bbq joint in the given city. I was a lil suspect giving the mustard based sauces but to my surprise it went perfectly with the meat... ribs and chicken so tender and full of smokey goodness I went back twice in 1 day...only thing I was upset by was finding this place 1 day before my trip ended. In all, the only reason to pass up on this place is if you hate good food.

Best bbq I've ever had, hands down. Next time I'm in ft Lauderdale I am definitely coming back here. Best ribs on the planet, great collards and pretty good Mac n' cheese.

2-DAY CRAWL OF THE TOP-RATED BBQ restaurants in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. We're both huge BBQ fans, and we'll versed on the subject. These reviews are only for the meat. We did not heavily weigh the sides or prices, since they were all acceptable. Sparky's Roadside BBQ, Miami - My nephew's favorite of the group. Small-town diner ambiance, delicious, smokey, authentic, moist BBQ, no sauce needed, generous portions, diner-style service. Swine Southern Table & Bar, Coral Gables - elegant BBQ? A quirky combination of trendy style and dressed up cuisine, soft but bland meat helped by creative sauces, chef instead of pit master, professional staff. We both enjoyed the restaurant, but couldn't rave about the BBQ. Most expensive of the group. Blue Willy's BBQ, Pompano Beach - Food truck graduated to extremely authentic BBQ restaurant, smokey, casual dining room with long tables, samples while waiting in line, good BBQ, but both ribs and brisket need the help of sauce for moisture and flavor. Park at Midas across the street. Father & Sons Smoke Til U Choke BBQ, Fort Lauderdale - Next to the Swap Shop, picnic tables on the porch, smokers out back, nice aroma, sadly, dry chicken and ribs which could not be rescued by their strange sauce. The only one we would not recommend. We ate dinner here and theorized that the meat had been cooked early in the day and dried out in the smoker. Pride & Joy BBQ, Wynwood - My favorite of the group. Clever interpretation of rustic BBQ joint with lots of picnic tables out back, friendly albeit casual service, big and open late, delicious, moist BBQ, no sauce needed, but good sauces if you're so inclined, good sides, nice aroma for blocks.

Best ribs in So Fla!!! Always perfect, flavorful, and The Sauce. Mac & cheese is greasy and delicious. The collard greens are amazing. Beans are good too. They have a great selection of cakes, my personal fave is the key lime cake. You cant beat the price. The family makes for some of the friendliest staff you will ever come across. They are wonderful. Cons: really only seating is 2 picnic tables outside. Most ppl take food to go. But if you are coming from Miami, u gotta eat there. Its also not in the best neighborhood. Nothing to be alarmed about but just a heads up. But this place never misses. Weve been there several times now and its been perfect every time.

Sorry! I inhaled my food before i could snap a pic...but believe me when i tell you (YOU MUST TRY F&S)!! Not hard to find (one block E of Swap Market on Sunrise) with plenty of parking. Friendly and helpful person at counter who helped me to maneuver through the menu. Not many items to choose from (Chix or Ribs) and sides (mac n cheese, potato salad, beans, cornbread, etc...) The ribs were friggin DELISH!! No seriously. I wonder if they bottle the orange sauce they spooned over it so i could drink it seperately, it was that darn tasty!! The ribs off the hook!! And for 1/2 a rack, more than enough to feed a few people. The Large Mac n Cheese ( bomb.com ) and still had some left over for the next day.... and the collard greens also were tasty. Cornbread was ok, a little dry but still good! I will be back F&S!!!

I have to say that I heard about this place on hot talk on hot 105 I pulled in the parking lot which was flooded l ask a gentleman if I can get a takeout menu he instructed me to go inside the guy in an apron that work in the kitchen, tall with dreads in his hair was very rude and unaccommodating told me not to park at the entrance where I could gain access to the building, the only part that was not fooded or he would tow my car .It was very rude and did not accommodate me in any way. I will not be going back to this organization in the near future. don't know how to do business unprofessional and as of hot talk and 105 that profiled this business the opportunity they have lost a great deal. P.S. just the thought of an order of any kind for anyone who has been wrong. Imagine what they could do to your food. SMH !

This BBQ place proves once again why you should never judge a book by its cover. The ribs were off the bone moist and delicious. These boys are on a mission to deliver a great product. My son and I split a full rib, not realizing they serve you the whole flippinp pig. Full rack feeds 4 people. The colard greens were so flavorful with bits of smoked brisket. Not a huge fan of mac n cheese because I just don't like that style but my son liked it. Seating is very limited so you may have to take it to go. If you're in a hurry, go somewhere else. They're in no rush to serve you anything but good food. I like that; no compromise. - Eric

Hands down best BBQ in the area. They didn't have sides when I went, since it was late I'm assuming. However I didn't really care because the ribs were AMAZING. Def going back this weekend. You get a generous portion and great quality for a low price.

Real bbq. When you drive by and the smoke is blowing across the road reducing visibility, you know this is going to be interesting. This is a whole in the wall, old place you wouldn't automatically walk into but don't pass it by. The meat is amazing. Perfectly cooked. Perfectly tender. The sauce is delicious and obviously house made. More mustard based than many places but absolutely to die for. The beans are incredibly flavorful and the Mac and chess is very cheesy, flavorful and exactly what southern Mac and cheese should be. Prices are good and portions are good. We will be regulars for certain

I was REALLY looking forward to this BBQ spot, based on the reviews. I was thoroughly underwhelmed. Might have been an off-day, but the ribs were delicious, but not very tender. The greens were just a tad too tart for my taste, but the mac and cheese was spot-on cheesy yummy delicious. I will try again, but won't buy a whole rack dinner. In my opinion, I wasted a LOT of money on the first try.

Always friendly always good food. I usually get the same thing. Half rack ribs double collards so I can't speak on the rest of the menu but will be sampling some other stuff soon. The parking can be challenging but it's worth the minor inconvenience once u get served.

Saw the reviews for the Cue and had to roll on by. The Shack was smokin' so I had to try those ribs. Mild sauce slightly sweet, ribs massive, smoky, moist. These here are some tasty pups, and plenty of them in the half rack (huge portion actually). Got the Mac and Collards, both true to form and real tasty. Get your butts over here and start chowin down (mostly take out). This shack rocks.

The BBQ here is barely passable. Gray meat, lousy beans. Right into the garbage cole slaw. Even the bread is bad; wonder white. So many better places are available.

This BBQ place has such soul and charisma. The owners and workers are attentive and cranking.......characters and fellow customers I've encountered here remind me of a popular BBQ shack in a little Texas town I know that was the meeting neutral happy place- that social bridge for all the town folk, rich, poor, low class, high class, middle class, all races, every walk of life so hypothetically happy to see one another, eating and laughing heartily, talking good humored smack, telling stories that everyone seemed to relate to. I've gotten the ribs a couple times now. They have been wonderfully tasty with and without the amazing sauces, which come in spicy or mild. The ribs have been smoky and tender, not gristly, just enough fat not to be annoying, to keep the meat tender and juicy. The chicken was OK, especially if you need to feed non-pork eaters in this one-trip-to-a-restaurant. I got the meals with two sides, runs about $13 for the rib dinner; each time there were about 6 different-size rib pieces, mostly about 7-8 inches long, thick cut and meaty. This visit, I was told before I ordered that there was about a 20 minute wait on the ribs in case I couldn't wait. How courteous is that? The sides are good, too. The greens both times were very good, you can taste a hint of vinegar, but that was remedied for me with the AMAZING side of cornbread, I choose to mix the two-ever heard the backwoods terminology of putting cornbread into "pot liquor"? Lol. The baked beans were sweet, and the reddish rice/pea mix had a kick to it. The sweetie pie lady behind the counter suggested cake, I got the pound cake with the lemon glaze. Moist, firm and not too sweet, the glaze carrying most of the sweetness, the way a pound cake should be. All of the cakes were precut and packaged. They are baked off site, I believe they have two cake vendors. They also had red velvet, key lime and vanilla layer cakes. A small selection of can/bottle drinks were in a small reach in cooler on the counter. They had two recycling drink machines (I don't know the technical name), lemonade and fruit punch, both verrrrrry sweet, but also blended tastily, if you like that kind of drink. The place is small, more conducive to take out. But if you can't wait to eat, you can sit at high top tables inside or park like benches outside; the wood deck seating is not fancy, but so welcoming, reminiscent of old school mom and pop places just trying to make food for the neighborhood, any other appeal being happenstance. My rib exclusive. Love.

This place is the bomb! 1/2 slab was enough to feed 3 people. Their sauce is really good. It's not traditional BBQ Sauce, it's a mixture of flavors its so good. The owner and staff are super nice. Prices are very reasonable (we fed 5 people for $35.00) everything is good. Wings, BBQ, sides, deserts, all of it is excellent. Service is fast and friendly. Can't say enough good things about this place. Ribs are huge, cooked superbly, sauced and seasoned just right and very very meaty. The meat is lean, fat trimmed so you truly get all ribs. Most of the meat was so tender, it fell off the bone. The sauce. Man the sauce is everything. We tried the mild and the hot. Both were excellent. Never tasted anything like their sauce and we've had plenty of BBQ around the world, this is by far one of the best places. We drive from Miami Beach to Ft Lauderdale just to have it. The homemade cakes are so good as well. It's really a good place to eat. You can eat there or carry out. Staff is friendly and food is great, you can't go wrong with this place.

I wanted to try this place but first time I went the lights were off due to a power line down so I was like ok and then I returned the next day and was left on hold for 20 minutes I just got disgusted. Mayb I will try on a less busy day and hopefully will give a great review.

I will say I have drove past this place a few times so I decided to stop in. The customer service was great and friendly everyone worked together as a unit. To the good stuff the BBQ ribs almost made me bite my fingers off it was that good and the sauce was very good I will be back again

Drove by on our way to the swap shop and saw this place on the side of the road, we called and asked about the specials 6.99 for ribs and fries or 4.99 for wings and fries we decided to stop by and give it a try. The parking isn't the best as the lot had alot of oil and water in the middle that you can avoid driving through. The owners are extremely nice and friends, its a small restaurant but very clean. We ended up ordering a family size of the ribs which came with two large sides so we got a mac n cheese and fries. Which ended up cost roughly $28. The amount of food was enough to feed an army lol. But let's get the point THE FOOD .....IT WAS DELICIOUS. The ribs were juicy and tender. With a nice smoky flavor. But the real king of taste was the sauce . My god the sauce should be bottled and sold as a miracle drug that cures blandness lol. Do your self a favor go here immediately order some ribs and wait for an explosion of goodness upon your first bite.

Some of the best bbq in south Florida. The family loves the family slab dinner. Like Tom Jenkins' ten years ago but better. It is located in a small red building on the north side if sunrise. Not much seating so picking up food is the best option.

How is it that the best BBQ restaurant in South Florida has not been reviewed on Yelp? Perhaps it is because the family that runs this tiny little restaurant on Sunrise Blvd, less than a mile off 95, is totally focused on their BBQ. If you want meaty, mouth-watering, succulent ribs, this is the place to go. The smoker is right out in the drive-way and everyone who works in the place is extremely friendly. They offer both hot and mild sauce with your ribs and I prefer the mustard-based hot sauce. However, do yourself a favor and get the sauce on the side -- the ribs are that good without it. The place is a jewel just waiting to be discovered. Enjoy!
